TREK FOR HOPE - ADVENTURES WITH A DIFFERENCE
Trek For Hope was established in 2013 to provide opportunities to families that are struggling to survive in their own communities. As adventurers, trekkers, and photographers, we often noticed that the intense beauty of a community attracted many visitors to villages throughout the world, yet the people in those villages did not have enough money to feed their children.
Each footstep we leave is a legacy and the legacy of Trek For Hope is to provide the basic essentials that a village may not have.
If outdoor adventures and volunteering work are your passion, we invite you to join us in our Hope Trek 2024!

The Mission
The 10th annual trek is on a mission to bring hope and support to those living in the shadows of despair - the courageous souls of Oikos Helping Hand (OHH). https://oikoshelpinghand.org/about-ohh/ In the heart of Tondo's slums, Oikos Helping Hand (OHH) is a beacon of hope. Led by dedicated Singaporeans and local volunteers, their mission is crystal clear: to ease poverty's burden every day. They treat those they aid as family, bound by an unbreakable thread of humanity. Oikos Helping Hand (OHH) shines as a beacon of hope, embracing the needy with open arms. Nurturing dreams through education, they heal hearts wounded by hardship, extending compassion beyond the physical realm. In this shelter of kindness, the spirit of New Smokey Mountain finds solace. Love sows seeds of hope, breaking poverty's shackles, and lifting them to rise like phoenixes. |

Our Trek
Yet, our TREK for Hope would remain unfinished without embarking on a trek to enjoy the beauty of the Philippines. This year, our path takes on a distinctive hue, as we blend the essence of community trekking into our journey.

Mount Pulag (2922m) 2 Days 1 Night Camping
At 2,926 meters above sea level, Mount Pulag, the Philippines' third-highest peak, is known as "The Playground of the Gods." This majestic mountain captivates with its natural wonders, where clouds and sun rays dance in harmony, making dreams take flight. Nestled in the Cordillera Central mountain range, beckons nature enthusiasts, hikers, and adventurers alike. Its towering height and diverse ecosystems make it a captivating pilgrimage site, offering an otherworldly experience for those who dare to explore its slopes. As darkness falls, trekkers are treated to a mesmerizing spectacle on the mountain. The starlit skies envelop the summit like a celestial embrace, playing hide-and-seek with constellations. At dawn, the first light unveils a surreal sea of white clouds below, evoking a sensation of floating above the world. A truly breathtaking experience atop the mountain. Mount Pulag holds cultural significance for indigenous communities. The mountain's slopes are home to the Ibalois, Kalanguyas, and Kankana-eys, among others, who regard Pulag as a sacred ground, a place where spirits dwell and stories echo through generations. |
Mount Pinatubo (Day Hike)
Mount Pinatubo, a captivating once-dormant volcano in Luzon, Philippines, showcases nature's immense power and resilience. Part of the Zambales and Cabusilan Mountain Ranges, this majestic peak tells a tale of awe and wonder. After nearly 600 years of dormancy, Mount Pinatubo erupted in June 1991, unleashing a catastrophic event that spewed ash and volcanic debris into the atmosphere. The eruption, one of the most devastating in history, blanketed nearby areas and had a global impact on the climate. Mount Pinatubo's eruption dramatically reshaped the landscape, turning its once peaceful crater into a massive caldera, now housing a serene turquoise lake. Aptly named Lake Pinatubo, this stunning natural wonder stands as a vivid reminder of the mountain's violent past and the indomitable spirit of renewal in the face of adversity. Today, Mount Pinatubo has become a renowned destination for adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike. The journey to the crater lake is an exciting one, weaving through striking lahar canyons and rugged terrains. Trekking up the slopes rewards visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the awe-inspiring crater lake below. |
