The Singapore Camino

The Camino de Santiago (Latin: Peregrinatio Compostellana, "Pilgrimage of Compostela"; Galician: O Camiño de Santiago), known in English as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the saint are buried.

Walking the Camino de Santiago is a life-changing experience. From the beautiful cathedrals to the stunning shoreline, the journey is something that lets you push the reset button on who you are.

You’re away from family and friends on the Camino de Santiago. The work commitments are no longer there, and you can even unplug from the Internet.

After this long battle with COVID and the various restrictions that come with it, we have developed a greater appreciation for our opportunities at home. That’s why AU is delighted to announce our SG Camino experience.

This walk consists of a 24km route, starting from Telok Blangah and ending in Newton. You will pass through beautiful historical structures and monuments in various heritage trails and in the Civic District.  Depending on long you linger at each location, the entire journey should take about five to six hours.
Here are some of the highlights from the SG Camino
  • Wesley Methodist Church - the oldest Methodist church in Singapore
  • Kampong Kapor Methodist Church - the first Peranakan church in Singapore
  • Cathedral of the Good Shepherd - the oldest Roman Catholic church in Singapore
  • Chjimes - A Catholic convent and orphanage house used in 1855
  • Armenian Church - the oldest Christian church in Singapore
