GET READY FOR SPAIN

Singapore has announced the establishment of a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) for travellers from Spain to Singapore. Fully vaccinated travellers can now apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP), which allows entry into Singapore for any travel purpose, without quarantine requirements.

To be eligible to travel from Spain to Singapore via the VTL from 18th October 2021, you must fulfil the following criteria:
  • Travellers to Singapore must have only been to one or more of the VTL countries/regions and/or Singapore, in the last 14 consecutive days before departing for Singapore.
  • Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in either Spain or Singapore, with the final dose completed at least 14 days prior to arrival in Singapore
  • Travel on designated VTL flights
  • COVID-19 tests: Travellers from Singapore are currently exempted from taking a COVID-19 test and do not need to provide a vaccination certificate, as long as they have been in Singapore in the last 14 days.
  • A COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test needs to be taken within 48 hours before departure to Singapore and another test needs to be done on arrival.

Because the greatest part of a road trip isn't arriving at your destination. It's all the wild stuff that happens along the way.” ― Emma Chase

There are 17 regions in Spain and in this road/hiking trip, we will pass through 11 of them in the Central and North East region. We will get to see the Mediterranean Sea as well as the Atlantic Ocean (Bay of Biscay). And yes we will visit/hike 6 peaks in their National Parks (including the Pyrenees), cliffs and blowholes as well as many medieval towns.

Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid are the three major cities where we will overnight during the trip.

A map says a thousand words .......

THE NATIONAL PARKS

  • Montserrat Natural Park. This park is near to Barcelona and the highest peak is Sant Jeroni at 1,236m.
The hike up to Sant Jeroni will start from the Montserrat Monastery

  • Penarala Natural Park. This park is part of the larger Sierra de Guadarrama National Park..Within this Natural Park can be found glacier lakes (lagoons) nesting beneath high mountain peaks of above 2,000m elevation.

  • La Pedriza. La Pedriza is a spectacular feature in the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park because of its strangely eroded granite outcrops.. This is also a place to see Griffon Vulture and Black Vulture at a really short distance, as well as the Iberian Magpie. And if you are lucky, you may even be able to spot an ibex.

  • Picos de Europa National Park  This a mountain range extending for about 20 km forming part of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain.. There are also some stretches where tunnels are carved out of the rocks.

  • Pyrenees. The Pyrenees National Park extends for 400km covering three regions.. We will enjoy hike in the Pico Sobarcal area.

  • Bufones de Pria. The Bufones are blowholes near the edge of cliffs facing the Bay of Biscay.
