The Pikey Peak Trek is a relatively new and less trodden trek in the lower Everest area of Nepal - that offers a unique and less crowded experience compared to the more popular treks. Standing at an elevation of 4065m, it is one of the tallest hills in the Solu-Khumbu region of Nepal - home to the famous Everest region.
Watching the sunrise over the Himalayas is always a memorable experience. And the summit of Pikey Peak is famous for its stunning sunrise and sunset views, where the mountains dramatically dance against hues of red, orange, and pink, painting the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. While Pikey Peak itself is not as high as some of the other famous peaks in Nepal, its vantage point on a clear day provides breathtaking panoramic vistas, including the world's highest peak - Mount Everest - as well as other over-8000m peaks like Annapurna I (8091m), Kanchenjunga (8586m), Makalu (8481m), Lhotse (8516m), Dhaulagiri (8167m) and the twin-peaked mountain of Gauri Shankar (7134m). No wonder even Sir Edmund Hillary - the first climber of Mount Everest - contends that the view on Pikey Peak is unparalleled!
The Pikey Peak area is inhabited by the Sherpa, Tamang, and Magar ethnic groups. As you trek through the villages, you also experience a cultural trail through their beautiful settlements, enjoying their unique cultures, traditions and lifestyle, passing through ancient monasteries and stupas. The lush rhododendron forests, surreal views of rolling hills, deep valleys and picturesque landscapes add on the diversity and visual appeal of this trek, as all trekkers take this rare opportunity to appreciate the colours of nature on this pleasant trek.

This shorter trek is great for those with limited time for a trekking vacation, and also a good option as an easy-to-moderate trek for beginners hoping to kickstart your Nepal trekking journey. The serene and less crowded environment of Pikey Peak adds to the charm of this trek, making it perfect even for seasoned trekkers to take in the beauty of the Himalayas without the hustle and bustle in the more popular trekking destinations. Be one of the trailblazers to embark on the new Pikey Peak Trek before the secret is out!

A word on trekking in high altitude places
At Adventures Unlimited, we take our participant's health and safety concerns seriously. Instances of acute mountain sickness (AMS) can affect your heart, lungs, muscles, and sensory system. If one's condition is extreme and he/she has little access to treatment, difficulties can prompt swelling in the cerebrum and lungs, bringing about unconsciousness or even death. Learning to anticipate, minimise and treat AMS when dealt with symptoms is vital in the mountains. At Adventure Unlimited, we bring our medical and monitoring equipments whenever we embark on a trip. We do not soley rely on our foreign partners and operators to supply them. Please click here to read and understand Adventures Unlimited's approach in dealing with acute mountain sickness. |
