Back for more challenge! In this gunung bagging trip we will attemot not only 2 but FOUR peaks simultaneously. Sounds scary? Fear not, with enough preparation, this hike is about the same difficulty as most of the puncak 7 such as Rinjani, Semeru or Kerinci.
Overview
The Arjuno and Welirang mountains are still a destination off the beaten path and there are very few tourists. The crossing of the Arjuno-Welirang volcano chain is considered one of the most beautiful hikes in Java. It is an immense territory so you will have to camp for a few nights under the stars. The lower peak, Welirang (3,156 m) has active fumaroles where sulphur is collected. Arjuna has a dormant, collapsed crater on its eastern side above the Lalijiwo camp site. The Kembars (kembar = twins), two smaller peaks (over 3,000 m) nestle between Arjuna and Welirang.

The peaks
With an elevation at 3339masl, Mount Arjuno is one of the highest summit of Java island. Its name refers to a hero in Mahabharata epic. The mountain has some hiking starting points, with Tretes being the most popular one. The trekkers will have to walk along the rocky paved road up until the hut that is used to depose the sulfur. Gunung Arjuna is a part of Lali Jiwo Reserve a 5000 hectares montane wildlife park. Mt Arjuno and Welirang are connected by a 2700 m mountain saddle.

We will first start our journey from Tretes climbing up to the campsite near Lembah Kijang to spend a night. Lying at the foot of Welirang is Lembah Kijang base camp. It is a beautiful valley and has crystal clear water because it is filtered by the branches – twigs that surround the valley. We will have a chance to spend a night here.
The valley is cool and the quiet atmosphere away from the hustle of activity of citizens is often used as a resting place by the climber. If you are lucky, you can spot the deers roaming around the valley and at night often their mating calls can be heard.
The next day we will face the longest hike of the whole trail spanning Gunung Welirang, Gunung Kembar I and Gunung KEmbar II. Along the way you will encounter interesting and magnificent sights of the local sulfur miner working amidst the active crater of Welirang, toiling up and down with loads as heavy as 30-40km on a pushcart/wheelbarrow.

On the last leg of the journey, we will wake up before sunrise to enjoy one of the most magnificent sunrise on Arjuno, some say it is even better than Rinjani when the weather is clear. We will spend sometime here before descending to back to the foot of mountain for well deserved rest.
Difficulty Grade 3 (https://www.liveopenly.net/adventures-unlimiteds-trail-grading.html)
Moderate fitness level is highly required as both mountain has steep trail type and multidays camping is required. Scrambling for the most part to the summit is expected.
