THE CAMPERVAN CRAZE is sweeping the globe. Go through your social media accounts, and you’re bound to land on someone’s trip through Australia or New Zealand in one of these converted vehicles. Their popularity makes sense. In these vans, travellers can enjoy both the comfort of modern luxuries and the freedom of the wild outdoors. If you have not thought of the reasons why you should go on a campervan holiday, we have thought of 3 reasons for you!
1. Roam around freely
No other method of travel offers such freedom, with a campervan affording almost the same reach as a motorcar with the convenience of your own ‘home’ on board.
No other method of travel offers such freedom, with a campervan affording almost the same reach as a motorcar with the convenience of your own ‘home’ on board.
2. Enjoy southern lights and stars in comfort
Imagine yourself lying on the cosy bed, wrapped with thick blanket while you enjoy the beautiful southern lights dancing in the dark sky of Lake Tekapo, Queenstown or Dunedin. Each stop comes the opportunity to explore new places. What you can see through the campervan window are amazing!
*Note that the actual campervan layout may not be what you see above. But rest assured there are roof and side windows.
3. Convenience
- No other form of travel offer the convenience that campervan holiday provides.
- Wanted to shoot time lapse video, fly a drone or take beautiful nice photos during the trip, but worry about the bulkiness of these equipment? This should be the last thing on your mind as we can always park our 'hotel room' nearby with all your equipment in it.
- Wanted to take photo of yourself in different outfits at the scenic lookout point, but there is no changing room around? No worries, the campervan parked right in front of you is your changing room.
- Caught in a heavy snow storm and you are stuck in the vehicle as it is too dangerous to drive? No worries, take a nap on your cosy bed with the heater on and the snow storm will be over in no time.
- Save the time and hassle of unpacking and packing your luggage at different hotels (New Zealand is huge, you will be changing hotel almost every day if you are travelling via car). Travelling via campervan allow you to unpack and pack your luggage in the campervan once and for all.

frequently asked questions
1) Is this a luxury trip?
No. We will travelling, cooking, eating, sleeping, singing, sight-seeing, and stargazing all in the campervan. In fact we will be stopping by supermarket every 2 to 3 days to stock up our food supplies during the road trip and we encourage participants to experience preparing their own meals at the shared kitchen (holiday park where we park our campervan) or in their campervan (picnic chairs and table are provided). There will be 4 to 5 participants sharing one campervan, most of the campervans comes with 1 x double bed with side windows and 1 x double bed with roof windows. There are also campervans that comes with 2 x single bed with side windows and 1 x double bed with roof window, but subject to availability (We are offering early bird discounts to encourage participants to confirm their trip earlier so that we can try to secure campervans with 2 x single bed and 1 x double bed).
2) Is the hooker valley trek difficult?
We grade it 1 out of 5. Refer to Adventure Unlimited's Trail Guide for more details.
3) It is very cold at New Zealand South Island during winter?
Typically the temperature range at the town area is 2 to 10°C while -3 to minus -5°C at the mountain area (e.g. Cardrona Snow Farm) during July. What is good about campervan holiday is that you can choose to stargaze in the campervan with the room heater on and wrap yourself up with thick blanket. In fact, you can even bring along your personal blanket to New Zealand if you think one blanket is not enough.
