Ladakh
It is a land which encourages you to chase a vision. It is a community that thrives under beautiful, starlit skies. Travelling to Leh, India will bring you to one of the friendliest places on our planet.
And as an extra bonus, you can view some of the world's most stunning vistas.
There is a certain clarity which comes to one's mind while visiting Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Tsokar and Tsomoriri. As you achieve summits of up to 5,000m and drive over one of the world's highest passageways, listen closely.
The challenge of trekking with Tsokar and Tsomoriri in view, is especially thrilling. The area is home to nomadic tribes, or Chagpas, who tend to their herds of goats, yak and sheep with help from their muscular mastiff dogs. It is also a haven for wildlife, including kyang, the Tibetan wild ass.
The altitude alone is enough to catch out the unwary. However, the warmth of the welcome from the local people combined with the stunning backdrop of the all-conquering Himalayas make it a challenge many choose to accept.
