Come and lets journey to a new chapter this coming Jan 2018 to ‘KHAO CHANG PHUEAK’ the white elephant mountain which eluded us in our past attempts and at the same time, let us give back to the society through a visit to Baan Dada Children’s home.
At 1,249 meters tall, Khao Chang Phueak is the third highest mountain in Kanchanaburi. Often listed as one of Thai’s bucket list target, the mountain offer a panoramic stunning view coupled with thrilling experience through the narrow and steep trekking trails
Surrounding the mountain is Thong Pha Phum National Park, located about 200kms northwest of Karnchanaburi Thailand. The park’s area is 1,120sq.km featuring lush tropical forest, mountainous landscape, headwater source and rare wildlife animals. “Khao Chang Phueak” represents the highest landscape of the park, and it marks the Thailand-Myanmar border with Thailand flag at the peak.
Post hike, we will be visiting Baan Dada Children’s home at Sangkhlaburi.
Baan Dada Children’s Home and Community Services is a project of the Neohumanist Foundation (http://baandada.org/).
Baan Dada Children’s Home and Community Services is a project of the Neohumanist Foundation (http://baandada.org/).
Situated in a small Thai village on the Thailand-Burma border, the home is a safe haven for over 40 disadvantaged children, orphans, children coming from single-parent, abusive or financially struggling families. Providing not only food and shelter and a focus on their education, they seek to encourage further development through teaching them life skills such as weaving, art, foreign languages, cooking and baking, music and technical skills.
A crucial part of this visit is for us to learn more about the children’s home and we hope to establish a long term collaboration to help the home.
We will be staying for one night and during the day time, we will be participating in community work at the home and explore the surrounding area with the children.
Participants could contribute by means of donating food, clothes, toys and school supplies.
