Travel Dates:
18-25 April 2024 (Spring)
Springtime in China is a symphony of renewal and awakening. As the harsh grip of winter recedes, the land comes alive with a vibrant burst of colors and scents. Cherry blossoms, peach flowers, and magnolias paint the landscape in delicate hues, as if nature itself is celebrating the return of warmth and life.
Jiuyanlou 九眼楼 Situated atop the primary peak of Flame Mountain, Jiuyanlou Natural Scenic Area graces the landscape, nestled 9 kilometers southeast of Sihai Town. Standing tall as the most substantial and impeccably structured defensive edifice along the Great Wall, it now flourishes as the "Nine Eyes Tower Great Wall Natural Scenic Area," inviting visitors to explore its grandeur. The region boasts expansive mountains and plunging valleys, generously adorned with verdant vegetation. A tranquil atmosphere envelops the surroundings, where awe-inspiring vistas unfold against a backdrop of natural splendor. |
Jian Kou 箭扣长城 The landscape features dramatic changes, with the Great Wall perched upon rugged peaks and precipitous cliffs, enhancing its majestic and formidable nature. The name "Jiankou" derives from the winding shape of this section of the Great Wall, which resembles the letter "W" in the English alphabet, resembling a bowstring ready to release an arrow. Jiankou Great Wall is one of the most renowned challenging segments of the Ming Dynasty's Great Wall. Its distinctive shape has made it a highly photographed section in various Great Wall publications in recent years |
Mu Tian Yu 慕田峪 The origins of Mutianyu Great Wall harken back to the era of the Northern Qi Dynasty. Faced with the need to counter northern nomadic tribes, extensive restoration of the Great Wall's defense system was undertaken. Its strategic significance and successive renovations have led to the preservation of Mutianyu Great Wall as one of the most well-maintained stretches of the Ming Great Wall. Through numerous refurbishments following the establishment of modern China, it has evolved into an iconic segment, embodying the essence of the Great Wall in Beijing. |
Each stone of the Great Wall holds a story, each step echoes with the whispers of ages past.
Gu Bei Kou 古北口长城 The Gubeikou Great Wall stands as a testament to the comprehensive history of the Great Wall of China. Encompassing the Great Wall sections of the Northern Qi Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty, it encompasses four distinct segments: Crouching Tiger Mountain, Panlong Mountain, Jinshanling, and Simatai. Gubeikou serves as a strategic fortress positioned between Shanhaiguan and Juyongguan, bridging the gap between Liaodong Plain and Inner Mongolia to the heartland of the Central Plains. Nestled within the Yanshan Mountains, Gubeikou is situated as one of the many pivotal gateways along the extensive Great Wall network. |
Jin Shan Ling 金山岭长城 Jinshanling Great Wall starts from Wangjing Tower in the east and ends at Longyukou in the west, with a total length of about 15 kilometers. The city wall is generally about 7 meters high, 6 meters wide at the bottom and 5 meters wide at the top, and can accommodate five horses riding together. On this section of the Great Wall, enemy towers, battle towers, and shops are densely covered, of which there are 158 enemy towers and battle towers. As the most complete section of the Ming Great Wall, the Jinshanling Great Wall has profound archaeological value and is of great significance to the study of the history of the Ming Dynasty in China. |
Si Ma Tai 司马台长城 Stretching from Wangjing Tower in the east to Houchuankou in the west, the Simatai Great Wall spans a total length of 5.7 kilometers. The Yuanyang Lake Reservoir gracefully divides this formidable structure into distinct east and west sections. This remarkable span encompasses 16 watchtowers within the eastern segment and an additional 19 within the western stretch, culminating in a total of 35 watchtowers (including one submerged in the water). In 1987, the Simatai Great Wall earned its rightful place on the esteemed World Heritage List. It remains a unique gem in China, embodying the unadulterated essence of the Ming Dynasty's original architectural prowess. Recognized and labeled as the "Original Great Wall" by UNESCO, this historical site stands as a testament to the past. |
The Great Wall is more than bricks and mortar; it's a living testament to the dreams and aspirations of countless generations
Huang Ya Guan 黄崖关 Radiating from Guancheng as its heart, the Huangyaguan Great Wall stretches outward to embrace the twin cliffs of the Lihe River. In its journey, it touches Banlagang Mountain in the east, where a cliff serves as its sentinel, and it extends to Wangmaoding Mountain in the west, with another cliff lending its embrace above the ridge. A repository of time's passage, the Huangyaguan Great Wall narrates a rich tapestry of history, marked by evolution and meticulous craftsmanship. Each facet of this remarkable structure has evolved into a masterpiece within the annals of Great Wall architecture. The landscape is adorned with treasures such as the Great Wall Museum, the captivating "Shuiguan" water pass, and the enigmatic stone steles of the "Bagua City." |
Beijing Beijing, a city that wears its ancient heritage with grace, stands as a captivating blend of time-honored tradition and modern dynamism. As you stroll through its bustling streets, the whispers of centuries past intertwine seamlessly with the vibrant energy of contemporary life. From the majestic sweep of the Forbidden City to the tranquil serenity of the Temple of Heaven, every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered. Amid the charming hutongs and modern avenues, you'll taste the essence of China's culinary artistry, savoring flavors that have traveled through time. Beijing invites you to wander, to explore, and to be enchanted by its ever-evolving tapestry, where past and present coalesce in a harmonious dance. |

Tips and Gratuity
We encourage participants to each set aside $5 SGD and $2 SGD ($7) per day as tips for the guide and driver. The tour guiding culture in China is to bring visitors for shopping. Commission from such trips has always been the main source of income for tour guides. However, our trip is a no-shopping event so we will do a consolidated collection to the guide and driver.
