The Great Wall Museum 山海关 The Great Wall Museum in Shanhaiguan showcases the history and cultural importance of the Great Wall. Visitors can learn about the wall's construction, purpose, and legacy through exhibits, artifacts, and interactive displays. They can also explore virtual reconstructions, ancient relics, and cultural representations to gain a greater understanding. Additionally, visitors have the opportunity to walk restored sections of the wall near Shanhaiguan Pass, allowing them to fully experience its magnificence and historical significance. |
Old Dragon Head Scenic Area 老龙头风景区 Old Dragon Head Scenic Area, where the Great Wall meets the sea at Shanhaiguan Pass. Jiaoshan 角山长城 Jiaoshan, located 3 kilometers north of Shanhaiguan City, boasts the highest peak in Guancheng's northern mountain barrier, standing at 519 meters. Its flat peak, capable of hosting hundreds of people, features a distinctive towering rock resembling a dragon head adorned with horns. Notable attractions include the Great Wall of Jiaoshan, Enemy Terrace, and Jiaoshan Temple. Spanning from Shanhaiguan in the east to Jiayuguan in the west and extends northward, hence it is also known as the "First Mountain of the Great Wall". |

Dongjiakou Great Wall 董家口长城 The Dongjiakou Great Wall is located on the steep mountains in the northeast of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province. It is one of the important fortresses of the Jizhen Great Wall built under the leadership of the Ming Dynasty military general Qi Jiguang, and is the northern fortress that guards the first pass - Shanhaiguan Pass. On the abrupt and dangerous mountain range, there are 36 platforms and 16 beacon towers, with a total length of 8.9 kilometers and the highest elevation of 560 meters. This area of the Great Wall is built on steep granite, winding and majestic, showcasing the unique military defense system of the Ming Great Wall in all aspects and at multiple levels. |

Chengziyu Great Wall 城子屿长城 The Chengziyu Great Wall is in the north of Qinhuangdao City. It was built by Qi Jiguang 400 years ago. The mountains, ravines, and mist create a formation where one man can defend against ten thousand. At the foot of the southeastern mountain flows a winding river. It joins the Tang River after the streams converge, while further away lies a beautiful flat land, perfect for troops. From the Great Wall, surrounded by mountains, you can see an east-west thoroughfare connected by mountain paths. This pocket-shaped terrain with four doors is ideal for military strategists. |

Just your day pack (25L) with snacks, rain gear, extra shirt and water bottle. Other stuff are optional.
2. Who can participate in this event?
There will be walking, climbing and descending over varied terrain. The elevation is about 500 to 1000 meters and the length ranges from 6 to 12 km. Some roads/trails can be a little rough. The hiking time is usually somewhere between 4 and 6 hours.
3. Do I have to follow your flight booking?
It will be ideal if we are travelling together but if you can confirm your own flight and show us that you will be in Beijing on 14 September 2024 at our said hotel location (or airport), that will be good enough for us. You may arrange for your own extension of the trip.
4. What about Hotel accommodation?
The price stated includes twin sharing arrangement for 3 nights at Beijing. Transfer from airport to hotel is provided ONLY if you are travelling with the main party. This will also be the pick up location for the beginning of the Great Wall hike. Please note that we will be staying at different guesthouses during the trek every night.

Event host will carry a First aid box with basic medication such as: plasters, bandages, Panadol, iodine, anti-rash etc
