“Stand at the crossroads and look;
Ask for ancient paths,
Ask where the good way is and walk in it,
There you will find rest for your souls.” - Prophet Jeremiah
Walk the French Way – Sarria to Santiago de Compostela
Date: 19 April 2024 - 1 May 2024
The legend of Ara Sollis tells us of a group of people who desired to find the hiding place of the sun. Where did the great ball of light go at night? Would it be possible to find that location?
What mysteries could be found if such a place existed?
The group became obsessed with the desire to find an answer. They left their lands to continue walking eastbound as they chased the sunset. When they arrived in Galicia, the Atlantic Ocean stopped their journey.
The sun went underwater at Fisterra, and the group marveled at the sight. It was the perfect hiding spot, resting beneath the waves. An altar was then placed in that spot to commemorate the knowledge the group had just obtained.

The Camino de Santiago is an old pilgrimage route to the tomb of Apostle St.James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The history of the Camino de Santiago goes back to the 9th century when the actual tomb of the Apostle was discovered. The first officially documented pilgrimage to Santiago was made by the king of Asturias and Galicia Alfonso II in the 9th century on the Camino Primitivo or the Original Way from Oviedo to Santiago.
The final stage of the famous Camino Frances (or French Way) is one the most popular Camino routes. It traverses the beautiful hilly landscapes of Galicia. Reward your efforts in Santiago de Compostela, the heart and hub of all pilgrimages on the Way of St James.
There will be time to explore Madrid - is the capital and largest city of Spain, known for its vibrant energy, rich history, and diverse attractions. With its warm climate, welcoming atmosphere, and abundance of attractions, it is a must-visit destination for travelers from around the world.

“The Camino taught me to keep going, to keep moving forward when life gets hard – even if it’s one step at a time.” – Tristina Oppliger
We have walked the Way of St. James during the holiday seasons of 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023 as a personal pilgrimage. However, what we have learned through our past journeys is that with the fantastic vistas, big skies, and towering spires, this route is one of the world’s best trails to follow at any time of the year.
Whether you come to see the Romanesque art, experience the salty sea air, or come to walk for your personal reflections, the Way of St. James calls one and all to embrace the moments of life each day. This journey will change your life.

Everyone walks the Camino for a purpose
You may walk the Camino because...
you want to enjoy the scenery
you want to make new friends and meet people
you want to self-reflect and spend some time alone
you do it as a pilgrimage, to seek or make peace with God
you have a promise to keep
you have a request to make
you have lost something
... or seeking for something
At the Camino, anything can happen.
