Christmas is a beautiful time of celebration. It reflects a time when Christians are able to celebrate God’s gift offered through Jesus.
This December, we will get to experience the joy of this gift together as we take on the Phnom Kulen trek. Here you will get to be a witness to the majesty of creation with towering waterfalls, fiery sunsets, and incredible cultural immersion activities.
We will be spending one day performing an outreach effort during this journey at a local village. In Sisophon, we will be screening the Jesus film and offering our hands and feet in service when moments make themselves available.
PHNOM KULEN
Wanderlust travel magazine 2013 listed the trek into the jungly plateau of Phnom Kulen as one of the world's most mysterious places alongside the Easter Island heads, Peru's Nazca Lines and Turkey's Gobekli Tepe.
In June 2013, a group of daring archaeologists uncovered a lost 1,200-year-old city on a misty Cambodian mountain by hacking through the thick jungle, strewn with live land mines (1). Mahendraparvata, the city they found, is thought to pre-date the famous site of Angkor Wat by around 350 years and lies only 25 miles west of that huge temple. Archaeologists believe Mahendraparvata was the first city of the Angkor Empire in 802 AD.

Phnom Kulen has many great wanderlust opportunities to offer, particularly with its access to the Mahendraparvata temple complex. It is similar to the Angkor Archaeological Park, though more remote and an atmosphere that feels much more authentic instead of developed for tourism.
During the trek, there will be campfire songs and worship each night.
