We are bringing back one of our most requested event this December 2016 - Cambodia, The Birth of a New Empire. Wanderlust travel magazine 2013 listed the trek into the jungly plateau of Phnom Kulen as one of the world's most mysterious places alongside the Easter Island heads, Peru's Nazca Lines and Turkey's Gobekli Tepe. In June 2013, a group of daring archaeologists uncovered a lost 1,200-year-old city on a misty Cambodian mountain by hacking through the thick jungle, strewn with live land mines (1). Mahendraparvata, the city they found, is thought to pre-date the famous site of Angkor Wat by around 350 years and lies only 25 miles west of that huge temple. Archaeologists believe Mahendraparvata was the first city of the Angkor Empire in 802 AD. It will be like seeing the Angkor temples before they become a commercialised crowded tourist spot like what we see today. What a great story it will be to tell your family and friends! What our participants say of our 2014 trip Besides blue pumpkin and Amok and lots of jumping shots, I bring back with me memories; esp the camping nights without wifi; which I think we had the most of the moments together. 180degrees sky view full of stars, watched dawn to daybreak, simply in stress free zone. Live land mines? You gotta be kidding me! Is the trek dangerous? No, we will not be bashing through any thick forestry like what the archaeologists in the article above did . Instead we will be trekking along the well defined paths that the locals have trek upon for years and yet remained unknown to foreigners. Beside our guide, there will also be local guides following us on this adventure. 2. Undisclosed temples? Why the secrecy? This trek circuit was developed early 2013. Weeks were spent exploring on foot with the local villagers before finally deciding on the trek trail that will cover most of the "known" treasures within the jungle. All will be revealed on site :) 3. I am new to trekking. Is this trip for me? You still have time to train! In your dedicated whatsapp chat, training dates will be announced for you to join as well as to get to know your team mates better.
