Trek For Hope: Myanmar, The Pagoda Diaries

​Myanmar.

Its beauty has been held back from the world for far too long. This landscapes here really are one of the few hidden gems left today. It’s only been recently opened to the public because of several years of internal strife.

Now it’s a nation that offers numerous parks to explore, mountains to summit, and is the home to bustling markets that leave lingering memories.

Myanmar. It’s an experience that will literally take your breath away.

ITINERARY

Day One (2 Dec)
1. Departure from Singapore
2. Pick up at YGN to Bago
3. R&R at Bago  where you will get the chance to visit  two of the city most popular Buddhist structures – the Reclining Buddha and the Shwemawdaw Pagoda.

Day Two (3 Dec)
Community Day at Kamarnut Village (B,L,D)
1. School program, medical Screenings
2. Construction of water catchment system
3. Procurement of donation items

Day Three (4 Dec) 
​Community Day at Kamarnut Village (continued) (B,L)
1. Distribution of Medicine and Educational items
2. Completion of water catchment system
In the evening, we will split into 2 teams to journey to our respective trek areas.

BAGAN/KALAW/INLE TREK (led by Simon)

​Day Four (5 Dec)
1. Reach Bagan early morning
2. Exploration of prominent pagodas at Bagan by e-bikes, Sunset viewing at Shwe Sandaw

Day Five (6 Dec)
1. Departure to Kalaw after sunrise viewing
2. Trek Day 1

Day Six and Seven (7 and 8 Dec)
1. Trek Day 2 and 3
2, End trek at lake, explore Inle Lake by boat (1hrs), spending the night at Nyaung Shwee city

Day Eight (9 Dec)
1. Day exploration of Inle Lake, tour around the city by boat or tuk tuk
2. Depart back to Yangon in the evening

MANDALAY/HSIPAW TREK (led by Sucan)

Day Four (5 Dec)
1. Reach Mandalay early morning
2. R&;R at Mandalay – Discover Amarapura, an ex-capital of Myanmar before Yangon, U Bein Bridge and Sagain hills

Day Five (6 Dec)
1. Departure to Pwyn O Lwin
2. Scenic Train to Hsipaw through the famous Goteik Viaduct, an engineering marvel of the past.
3. Check in at Hsipaw, R&R
4. Prepare for trek

Day Six and Seven (7 and 8 Dec)
7-Dec Trek Day 1
8-Dec Trek Day 2

Day Eight (9-Dec)
1. Trek Day 3
2. Reach Hsipaw back at 4pm
3. Wash up and depart back to Yangon

Day Nine (10 Dec) (D)
Both teams reunite once again for post-trip celebrations
1. Reach Yangon early morning, hotel check in
2. Visit Shwedagon and Sule temples and closing dinner at Pandomar (celebrated restaurant frequented by Aung San Suu Kyi and other foreign presidents and dignitaries)

Day Ten (11 Dec)
Depart back to SG

Insurance
From 15 July 2015 onwards, a travel agent is required to ask attending participants if it is their wish to purchase travel insurance that includes coverage for business insolvency of travel agencies when:
–  they are buying a leisure travel product/package; or
– their travel product/package costs at least S$1,000 (including GST) per person; or
– they are paying a deposit or payment of at least S$500 per person.

Others:

1. The land cost quoted herein covers all necessary costs and expenses expected to be incurred but it does not include donations to the beneficiaries. Donations will be raised via fund raising activities carried out by the Trek For Hope Charity Outreach Executive Committee in conjunction with the trek participants.

2. This event is organised by Adventures Unlimited (TA02844), a licensed travel agent registered with the Singapore Tourism Board.


3. Insurance
