Trek For Hope’s 5th annual trek seeks to provide support and relief to Oikos Helping Hand (OHH) and looks to make even greater changes this year for one simple reason: Hope.

OHH is a non-profit NGO run by Singaporeans in the heart of the slums of Tondo. Their goal is simple: to ease the suffering of poverty in whatever ways are possible every day.

They do this by providing basic physical, educational, and spiritual needs. Over time and with enough support, this allows those living in the New Smokey Mountain region hope to be able to one day break the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families for good. Our community day includes community work in multiple facets at New Smokey Mountain. This work includes gathering the stories of those who live there so the rest of the world can get to meet these courageous people who endure everything, yet have nothing.

In the spirit of adventure, we will also be making our pilgrimage trek up the twin peaks of Mount Pulag (2922m) and Mount Ulap (1846m).

Proceed to Victory Liner terminal and await bus to Baquio
overnight to Baquio

Visit to Mt Pulag Primary school (Activities with the local children)
Rest / Prepare for Night Climb

13 March 2017 (Monday) 
Commencement of night climb (5hrs hike)

On Charity (Important note to Participants)
In 2016, we have successfully raised enough funds to purchase a van for the purpose of transportation of personnel & collection/distribution of food items in the Tondo area.

Next year, we are looking at raising funds for Okios’s fencing project at Agapeland discipleship training center, Cavite province. Across the river there are drugs addicts and on several occasions, they have tried to climb in to the center. For the security of the children and occupant of the facility, we seek to raise funds for the fencing project.

This project require digging a 1m deep perimeter trench and pour cement as foundation for the metal poles, before installation of fencing materials. The budget cost is $5,000SGD.

We want to encourage full participation of each individual for this trip.  All participants are expected to participate in team meetings and fund raising efforts arranged by the TFH committee prior to trip.
