2024 - the time to take your hiking journey to the next level and check it off your bucket list to embark on an adventure to climb Mount Kinabalu - one of South East Asia’s tallest mountains! Mount Kinabalu has a mysterious lure and believed by the locals to be a mystical place of their ancestor. Standing at an imposing 4095m tall on the Crocker Range of Sabah, East Malaysia, Aki Kinabalu - as the locals called it - is one of the most famous mountains and top climbing locations for hikers in this region and around the world.
The Mount Kinabalu Climb 2024: This 4D3N trip is curated to ensure you enjoy as much comfort before and after the climb so that you can focus on your experience on Mount Kinabalu. To allow acclimatization to the altitude, we start our trip with a more relaxed start by staying in Kinabalu Park - also Malaysia's first UNESCO World heritage site - one day before your climb. From the airport, we transfer to Kinabalu Park (1520masl) for a night's stay before we start the climb from Timpohon Gate (1829masl) to Panar Laban Base Camp where we will stay over at Laban Rata Resthouse before making our summit attack at the early hours of Day 3. On the same day, we descend Mount K and transfer back to the city, where we can have a well-deserved break before returning home the next day.
Mount Kinabalu (神山) is a good entry level to a hiker’s first 4000m, with an added bonus of a glorious sunrise at the summit. Climbers attempting Kinabalu do not need to have any previous experience at mountain climbing. However, a good fitness level and willpower is required. We will provide training opportunities via our regular outdoor activities organised locally by our trek leaders, which participants are highly recommended to join. Training up to be physically fit for the climb allows us to better enjoy the journey to the peak!
